I was just visiting a blog over at rookie mom and I read a post that definitely got me thinking about my own to do list for the year. Every year at my church we pass around a little sheet where you list everything you are claiming for the year, everything you’d like to do. We pray on it, sign it and get to work! I usually write mine down in church while everybody is doing it…On the day we did it I was ushering so I didn’t get to write mine down.
As of today my little green sheets of things I like to do for the year is still blank. Inspired by the Rookie Moms list I decide I’m gonna make my list too and it turn out to be really fun! Here it goes:
0. Read Bible
1. Actually make the list of things I wanna do – Check!
2.Pull the Christmas pictures off the camera
3.Print some of the pictures
4.Organize unfinished scrapbook for baby #2 (aka 10month old)
5.Remove that overdue nail polish
6.Leave the house and get a pedicure
7.Get a hair cut
8.Hang out with friends and not talk about Poop
9.Check out that Mommy and me group at church
10.Fix catcha code on PassioNoir for hubby
11.Find vendors for StaycationDirectory
12.Copy some good Ideas from other people- (Jump on the wheel not re-invent it)
13.Go back to the gym
14.go through stack of mail
15.call Dr Office
16.Plan next anniversary
17.Plan 10month old 1st Birthday
18. Go to sleep at 9Pm
19.Get 2 year old to go to sleep at 9 o’clock.
20.Dream about the future while sipping on sangria (not necessarily in that other)
What’s on your list? Post a little bit of your list (or the whole thing!) go ahead its fun!

As a mom there are two things I call precious my 2 little angels and “Time”. They go hand in hand, if I spend all my time away from home, it is kind of hard to enjoy my precious little angels. I jump to the conclusion that time would be my prime reason to own home base business among other things. Here are 5 key reasons why I think a mom should own a home based business.
1. Be your own boss:
When you have a home based business if anything you get to be your own boss. Make your own dress code and schedule. Which mean you can take off to go to a recital, a football game or the doctor office if you have to without having the mean boss lady yelling at you or worst telling you: “You can’t go”
2. Do what you like to do:
Unless it’s a family business that you inherited, you have the choice to start your home based business base on your own interest. I like the internet and I like talking about my kids so my business is “Professional Mommy Blogger” you get the picture. Having your own business allow you to be YOU!
3. Your business = your rule:
If I would reiterate number 1, having a home based business allows you to decide which project you want to work on. When you want to do it and how you want it done. For example: I’m a night person, waking up for a 9-5 is torture. However being the CEO of supermomplace.com allow me to choose my work hours among other things…
4. It can get very lucrative:
With a little luck or should I say hard work you might even make more money than your career could ever pay you. We work hard everyday, but we get pay a fraction of a fraction of the revenue. Owning your home based business mean you get the gross!
5. Tax incentive:
Business owners receive a variety of tax benefits that employees don’t have. I wouldn’t advise anyone to start a business solely for the tax benefits but it sure is one of the good benefits of business ownership.
Now that you know a few perks of having a business, be creative reinvent yourself imagine where you could be this time next year with your business. Good Luck and good work!

Since I started my online businesses some years ago I have encounter many challenges. I have learned so much through my trials and errors. This past year was the first time I have caught a break in all my ventures. I have been blessed with success in my businesses, it wasn’t easy but I’m getting there. I feel like God had put in my heart to share a few pointers with my fellow mom entrepreneurs and working mom once in while, kind of soothe the learning curve for them. Because I can tell you it is rough! You might quit before you even started. If you are just getting started here are a few guidelines to build user loyalty to you site and keep them coming back for more hence drive high traffic to your website.
1 – Content is key
First of all what do you have to offer? If you are blogging, selling a product, selling a service or whatever mean you are offering on your website is it valuable? Would you read your own blog? Would you use your own product or service? Chances are if you provide valuable content to your users they not only will keep coming back, they will refer you to their friends and their friends to their friends and so on. That is how you expand through word of mouth. How many times you go to the mall and find that they are having a good sale, do you not call your girlfriends and tell them about? I bought a Combi double stroller for my daughters just because a lady at the store had one and she told me that if was the best double stroller around. I later find out that I could have shop around some more, but that is not the point. They got my business because they were valuable to somebody so she testify in their favor. This is true for a website good content=high traffic.
2 – Scratch that.. Original content is key
Last time in [How to make money from your website]
I talk about niche, is your content, product, service original? You can’t go sell burgers in front of a McDonald. That is just plain stupid, unless your burgers are some finger licking, slap your mama kind of burger that people just can’t pass. I’m not saying to run away from the competition, because there’s nothing new under the sun what ever you can come up with someone else somewhere had probably already done it. I’m saying to make sure that your version has something original. In one of my breastfeeding classes I used to go to, I once met a mom who makes bibs. Are bibs a new concept? No but her bibs had these all around feel to it that would caught the baby’s slabs even if the baby was lying down. I thought that was very clever and all the moms agree that regular bibs don’t give you that feature. All the moms bought it including me. My point is although bibs are sold in almost every baby store around, hers was original. That goes also for a website although there are millions of websites out there; yours can still be something that people need and attract high traffic to your website.
3 – Have a heart for people
Be mindful of people, if you care about people they will care about you. It’s the golden rule Do to others as you would have them do to you. Would you keep going back to your site if it wasn’t yours? Umh.. That’s all I’m going to say.
Why do you want high traffic to your website anyway? What does more traffic mean to you? Does more traffic just mean more money or does it mean you get to serve more people? What is your primary motive? Focus on the people.
4 – Keep money in its proper place.
Don’t be greedy. Just focus on genuinely helping people and the rest will take care of itself.
Anyway Building a high-traffic website can be very challenging ugh! I know. These words of advice just sort of get your foot wet – keep learning. Most the of the time you will learn through your trial and errors, if you lucky you get to learn from someone else’s mistakes.
I guess you are lucky

Do you think of your website as a business or is it just a hobby? Then again there is no law that says you can’t get paid doing what you love to do. For me it’s the greatest! I love what I do, and its pays. How awesome is that?
Most of us moms, well I don’t know how many of us that is true for. For me, my biggest dream is to have a residual income base, make up my own schedule doing what I love so I don’t have to sell my time for a living. When I am not selling my time for a living, I can use that time to raise my girls and not let Dora and Kai-Lan do it for me. My husband and I we have tried countless ventures, which we fail miserably on some or some the money would be good for a while but I wouldn’t enjoy what I was doing, and I was always busy, I was always saying these words: “I don’t have the time” until we’ve turn to the internet business. We’ve tried a few website and wasn’t very successful the overhead of setting a website are significantly low but it still require a whole lot of hard work. I learn a few things through trial an error and once in a while I feel like soothing the learning curve for my fellow mom entrepreneurs and working moms or anyone who is trying to start an online business in need of some guidance.
Quick question:
Can you make a decent income online? Of course you can! Can most people do it? No, they can’t.
Well you may ask what do I need? In my last post [business tips for working mom] I mention keeping up with the technologies. You have to keep with the trends; the internet is growing and developing so fast. You blink one second and everything is no longer the same. If you don’t keep up with time you will miss out on opportunities. This will call for an aspiring mom entrepreneurs/working mom to be very web savvy.
Who is considered to be web savvy?
Well you don’t need to be a programmer, (I’m a programmer but can’t use MS excel and suck at Photoshop) so this apply to everybody no matter how technical you think you may be. You need a decent functional understanding of a variety of web technologies. What technologies do you really need to know will depend on the nature of your website and your means of monetization. But generally speaking I would say: a little bit of HTML/CSS, RSS/syndication, feed aggregators, pings, trackbacks, search engines, search engine optimization (SEO), page rank, social bookmarking, tagging, contextual advertising, affiliate programs, traffic statistics, email and so on I’m sure I miss some but this gives you a broad idea. What you don’t know can kill you. For example, if you have no clue about search engine optimization (SEO), you’ll probably cripple your search engine rankings compared to someone who understands SEO well.
Quick reminder: Don’t get too caught up in mastering everything and forgot why you were learning it in the first place. (My mistakes, I always do that)
Don’t be scare to change
Change is good! If you are too afraid of change you will miss out on opportunities. Think like an entrepreneur, not an employee. Don’t be too concerned with the risk of loss — be more concerned with the risk of missed gains.
Plan you work and work your plan.
If you don’t strategize your income generation, you probably will never have an income. Find someone that is successful and take note. Follow in their foot steps. Chances are if it worked for them it will work for you. There is nothing new under the sun, don’t reinvent the wheel just jump on it.
How do you generate traffic to you website?
If you do any kind of research on what do you need to have a successful website you will always find that they would say increase your traffic.Traffic! Traffic! Traffic! Well if it is so important how in the world do you get traffic? Traffic is the number one fuel of online income generation. More visitors means more ad clicks, more product sales, more affiliate sales and more of whatever else that generates income for you. And it also means you’re helping more and more people. Now that we have established that traffic is key let’s see how to make it happen.
Let me start with what not to do. I mention earlier not to get caught up in mastering the technology here’s what I mean: in the past 2 years I had redo my site at least 8 times, every time I would start getting indexed and Google start to recognize me I would find a new software platform that looks better than the one I have and I would redo the site. That put me in an eternal start-up with no ranking = no traffic. I learn that the hard way so don’t do it. Plan your work and work your plan. If you strategized your step you won’t have that problem. If you are just a mom entrepreneur or a working mom trying to start a business on your own, chances are you don’t have a lot of money to throw into adwords and other paid advertisement which mean you going to have to be super creative.
Social bookmark: submit your site diverse social bookmark can help tremendously. They have blog carnival, digg, stumble upon, del.icio.us you can Google for them. If you have valuable content that actually helps people in some kind of way. It will get around. That’s how content get viral.
Pick a niche of people that need what you are offering. Do not try to be everything to everyone. Be a big fish in a small pond not a small fish in a big pond. If you are a small fish in a big pond well you’ll never get seen.
Last but not least motivation
What is your motivation? What is your “why” it is a chicken/egg situation. If money is your number one motivation chances are you won’t get very far because you don’t really care about the product you just in it for a quick buck. But if you genuinely care about the service you are offering, and care about your customers well they will care about you and your business too. Besides it is so much more fun that way. Now that’s how you make money!
Do you have a tips or technic that have work for you in the past that you would like to share?

It’s a new season, it’s a new day; it’s a new year, a new decade. Most of us are setting up our new year resolutions. A hand full of us stick to our new years resolution, and a very few actually get results. Here are a few tips to get what ever you set your mind to this year.
1. See the vision, dream it: First thing you need to know what you want. You got to have a vision, a conception. Everything that came to life at some point someone somewhere had to see it, dream it. Alexander Graham Bell had a vision that he could converts sound, specifically the human voice, to electrical impulses of various frequencies and then back to a tone that sounds like the original voice. Today we have the telephone. Before you can achieve anything you need to see it.
2. Write it down: Writing down your Dreams and Goals is an important first step towards achieving them. When you write down your goals and vision you are force to visualize what you have to do. Writing down your goals also show commitment on you part to make it happen
3. Confess the dream: “As a man thinks in his heart so is he” Believe you can do it, even you not there yet. Tell yourself you can do it, constantly remind yourself that you can do all you put your mind to.
4. Commit to it: Don’t wonder if you’ll ever get what you’re asking for; know it is yours simply because you choose it. You are worthy of whatever you choose, so embrace it with confidence!
5. Don’t blab your dream out to everyone: Don’t tell anybody your dream and vision. 90% of people including close friends and relatives won’t see what you see. They will be very quick to tell you what a failure its going to be. A lot of people fail because someone told them “you can’t do it, it’s not possible”. Don’t share your Dream with the dream killers.
I wish all of you SUPERMOM a super successful year, may your blogs flourish, your businesses blossomed, and of course may your little ones stay cute and little forever, no stinky poopy diapers… uh-uhm..
eh well a girl can dream eh?
