In other news… Osama bin laden is dead

Good morning y’all!
What a Monday? I’m one of the people who made it a point to NOT watch the news. I find the news, sad and depressing. I tend to take the news very seriously, every little thing I heard I take it pretty hard and it was bad for my health… so I cut it off.

I heard someone say one time if it’s bad enough someone would tell you. So I rely solely on people telling me about the news and happening.

Some news reach out faster that others, news like Osama Bin Laden is dead! WOW Last night it must have been around 11 o’clock I was posting pictures from the tea party I just came from, and all over my timeline was “Osama Bin Ladin dead”.

My reaction was kinda like eh… whatever.

Then I had a 9/11 flashback, and I felt all the things I felt on that day and I thought well GOOD it’s about time… but is it really good news?

we’ve been chasing this guy for 10 years! Who knows how many disciple he made, who knows what kinda generation he’s been raising?
What good is it for him to die but his ideology lives on with thousands of other angry terrorist to carry them on? so yay! Osama is dead but now we got to chase a thousand others!?!

I hope our nation don’t let their guard down and get to thinking this is “peace”.

This thing just got started.

’tis the season… late

It’s Friday night, it’s 12:26 am I’m sitting here watching romantic Christmas movies. See I was off for 2 weeks over the holidays and I recorded every cheesy romantic movies lifetime has to show. See 3 years ago thats what I use to do, after all holidays stuff was over and everyone will retire I would sneak in and watch cheesy romantic movies. Hubby would always laugh at me because ‘hey! I’m an hypocrite I make fun of cheesy romantic movies, I laugh at chic flicks, so he always go by and smirk and say “REALLY?”

So that’s the reason why its mid-January, everyone’s asleep I’m stuck down here watching cheesy Christmas romantic movies all by myself and talking back to the TV like the poor cheesy girl looking for her forever after is crazy and unbelievable.
HELLO! it is unbelievable it’s TV!
I think I’m a little addicted to cheesy romantic story, cause when I’m not watching it, I’m reading about it, now I’m writing about it… then after I’m gonna get all worked and bash on how bad it was.

1. A very merry daughter of the bride (mom and daughter fall in love aww! GET REAL)
2. A boyfreind for Christmas (Santa make good on a 20 year old wish by delivering a hunk for Christmas. OH BROTHER)
3. Marry me (Lucy Lu get 3 guys to propose to her! This one is a definite winner *HORRIBLE* she did have nice dresses for me to copy when I get the sewing thing down)

After 12 years of thinking about it (and waiting for movie technology to catch up with his visions), James Cameron followed up his unsinkable Titanic with Avatar, a sci-fi epic meant to meant to trump all previous sci-fi epics. Set in the future on a distant planet, Avatar spins a simple little parable about greedy colonizers (that would be mankind) messing up the lush tribal world of Pandora. A paraplegic Marine named Jake (Sam Worthington) acts through a 9-foot-tall avatar that allows him to roam the planet and pass as one of the Na’vi, the blue-skinned, large-eyed native people who would very much like to live their peaceful lives without the interference of the visitors. Although he’s supposed to be gathering intel for the badass general (Stephen Lang) who’d like to lay waste to the planet and its inhabitants, Jake naturally begins to take a liking to the Na’vi, especially the feisty Neytiri (Zoë Saldana, whose entire performance, recorded by Cameron’s complicated motion-capture system, exists as a digitally rendered Na’vi). The movie uses state-of-the-art 3D technology to plunge the viewer deep into Cameron’s crazy toy box of planetary ecosystems and high-tech machinery. Maybe it’s the fact that Cameron seems torn between his two loves–awesome destructive gizmos and flower-power message mongering–that makes Avatar’s pursuit of its point ultimately uncertain. That, and the fact that Cameron’s dialogue continues to clunk badly. If you’re won over by the movie’s trippy new world, the characters will be forgivable as broad, useful archetypes rather than standard-issue stereotypes, and you might be able to overlook the unsurprising central plot. (The overextended “take that, Michael Bay” final battle sequences could tax even Cameron enthusiasts, however.) It doesn’t measure up to the hype (what could?) yet Avatar frequently hits a giddy delirium all its own. Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel

I’m totally risking showing my uh-uhm… age here, if you like me, grew up around the 80’s you can not say that you don’t know our super mischievous friends Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Aah good times! As I hold both my girls on my lap we watch Alvin and the Chipmunks doing their own version of ‘single ladies’ I don’t know which is more hilarious between my one year old dancing or the Chipmunks singing. We opted for More Munk Mayhem and decide to munk ourselves some more and dress up my personalize chipmunk and get it to read out loud for me HA! Ok we got a good laugh. Now I know that my kids are hooks on chipmunks. Good things the “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” is available on DVD, Blu-ray for Digital Download, you can buy it now and get the double DVD pack which include “The Squeak Along” Bonus Disc for the same price. My girls love music so we going to have a blast. IMO this is a must have in your family movie collection, I think it’s so cool to see our kids enjoy some of the same stuff we use to love as a kid.

This Friday is our Date Night Movie night. So hubby and I are looking for something to go see, and ironically enough guess what’s going to be at the movies this Friday April 9th? Date Night! with Steve Carell and Tina Fey can you smell double trouble?

So this bored Jersey couple (Steve Carell and Tina Fey) goes on another one of their weekly date night. Wanting to spices things up, they went to the city to this fancy restaurant, stole someone else’s reservation and attract all kinda trouble. They got chase by dirty cops, get shot at, and an ultimate face off with an underworld strip club boss. At the end they got pretty banged up but had a night of adventure and some steamy passion was in in the air *wink wink*.

Steve Carell is a comic genius, and Tina Fey well if you look up funny in the dictionary her face might pop up! so any movies that combine these too together is bound to be hilarious! This action comedy is… well pack with action, laugh and romance! I’m so looking forward to go see this movie! So ladies this Friday April 9th scoop hubby off the couch and go have some fun in Date Night, who knows you might even get inspired *wink wink*

Three years ago a friend of my husband lend us a whole season of 24, I didn’t even know about this show until that time. I remember we were watching 24 for a whole day straight (Pre-babies) that is. Now we tivo the episodes and watched them 2-3 weeks later as babies permitted of course. So I just watched this episode of 24 that was air 3 weeks ago. Let’s talk about Jack! If you ever watch 24 you know that Jack NEVER dies! even if he is dead! How in the world that Jack able to overcome the very mean Russian who was torturing him? Jack has a stab wound, leg and hands tied up and has been getting electrical shock over and over! Still he manage to take over, shock the mean Russian guy knock him unconscious untie himself, shoot people and again SAVE the day(Sorta)! Which bring me to ask how many live does this guy have? He is better than a cat, This is season 7 so that’s 7*24 hours, almost every 2-3 hours Jack is in some kinda situation that would endanger his life BUT Jack always come out alive even if he is dead presumably.Even superman gets a dose of kryptonite once in while NOT Jack!

Saved by the iPhone – Who knows a cell phone can be so useful?

I sometimes say my cell phone save my life because it babysit for me [My cell phone babysitter], I can update my facebook, twitter, check email, watch videos, text… all the cool stuff a cool phone can do. But when Dan Woolley says my iPhone saves my life boy did he really mean it. Dan Woolley is one of the many people who were trap under the rubble after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hits Haiti last week. He was able to use a medical app saved on his iPhone to treat a broken foot. Then, he used the instructions from the app to treat the bleeding from cuts on his legs and the back of his head. He used his camera to take pictures of way out – I never knew the iPhone could take pictures in the dark. That was a great option for him since he couldn’t really see anything, he was looking for refuge following the pictures. He eventually ended up in an elevator shaft were he waited for 65 hours before the rescue crews found him. In his own word “I kind of had some time to do some self-diagnosis down there,” Woolley said. “God was with me.” He also used the notepad app to write his family a note in case he didn’t make it but like he said God was with him in the mist of the darkness. Not that God wasn’t with the rest of them that died… What can I say God works in mysterious ways and His plan differ from person to person. Praise be to God Mr Woollley is alive and receiving care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. On a lighter note if he could do all that why didn’t he just call? ummh.. let me think he didn’t have the map! LOL no ATT bashing! bad bad bad Roodlyne

Not so Wordless Wenesday – My heart goes out to Haiti today

It’s been cold here in South Florida for a good 2 weeks, and I have been whining and bickering about it ever since. we don’t have central heating and I was scared to use a space heater around my super active 2 year old and my crawling 9 months old babies. So we wear extra layers of clothes, my girls had to wear hat and boots inside and I hated it. I didn’t miss a minute without complaining about it. Until yesterday when a relative call to say turn on the TV and I saw what is happening in Haiti. Oh My God! I was speechless at the devastation. Haiti is a disaster on its own now added a 7.0 magnitude earthquake there are no words to describe the devastation, the anguish of these people right now. I’m sitting here feeling so helpless, I wish there were something I could do. Now my cold house seems so meaningless… I feel so grateful for my cold house. The Haitians now are deprived of everything, and it is so heart broken and painful. All I can do right now is pray that God will provide healing for the injured, consolation for the broken hearted, shelter for the lost, and food for the hungry.
Lets Pray for Haiti!

Gran Torino & Christmas

I just watched the Clint Eastwood movie Gran Torino for some reason I keep saying “Grand Torontino” Don’t ask me why I don’t know. Anyway back to the movie… I know this movie has been out and I just saw it. Well, what can I say I a working mom with two babies under the age of two. Sometimes going to the movies can be a luxury. Even going to blockbuster and rent it can be a luxury. So I have to wait until its on HBO, set it to record on my DVR then wait when the clan are asleep, (if they ever fall asleep at the same time) run downstairs and watch the movie. DISCLAIMER!!! if you like me and you haven’t seen the movie and planning on seeing it big spoiler coming up CLICK AWAY! The movie started with the funeral of the wife of a grumpy war veteran.He came back to live in his old neighborhood filled with Hmong (I didn’t know who they were either) and gangs. He (Clint Eastwood) hated these people and they hate him. I would have hate him the guy is so bitter he growl at people. Seriously growl like a angry bulldog. A young Hmong boy being peer-pressured to join a gang was challenge to steal the angry man exquisite 1972 Gran Torino. The car that he apparently put together himself and hold it very dear. Old angry man comes out pull a rifle at the boy and order the rest of them to “Get Off My Lawn” classic phrase! I still laugh saying it “get off my lawn”. Like I said the boy wasn’t a bad kid he was being pressured. So the boy’s mom beg angry old man to let the boy pay amend for trying to steal his car. I wish moms would do that to their kids, make them pay some kinda amend for their offense, so they know that wrong doing comes with a price. That just me.
So the boy ended up working for angry old man, who makes him fix and clean almost everybody’s houses in the block. Over the few weeks of working for him they develop a very unlikely friendship. That was my favorite part: No matter where we came from or what we look like, at the end of the day we just people, if we take the time to get to know each other we’ll realize that we have a lot in common. yadi yadi yada Grumpy old man ended up being not so grumpy anymore, he teach the boy stuff and got him a job even keep the gang away from him. Keeping the gang away was not an easy task He gave His life so these Hmong kids would have a safe gang free life.
Couldn’t help but related this story to the beautiful gift of Christmas. How God pure and Holy choose to give His only son to die for poor sinners. At the end of the movie, the reviewers only talk about the car, no one mention the beautiful sacrificial love between two different group of people. It was a a rated R movie filled with bad language and violence but if you could get past all that there is a beautiful lesson there.

Motherhood decades ago

I was just wondering how did mothers do it way back when? I was thinking about all the resources out there for mothers, from websites to social networks, how-to books, articles, magazine, cell phone, computers, netbook, GPS navigation all the stuff I can’t get around without. And the list keeps on going. I may never get the point if I keep listing all the media out there. I can just go online and visit the school I want to put my kids in, I just Google for swimming classes and have the direction sent to my phone. I can go to forums and network with hundreds of other moms, asking and answering questions about spit up and diapers. You name it and you find it. I keep up with my friend via facebook updates, and text messages. I get my recipes online; I have my phone calendar reminding of appointments. I keep pictures of my babies on my website. I can access everything I need right here on my touch phone.
Now how did my grandma ever get around without Google? Where did she get her recipes without recipe dotcom? How did she learn how to make yogurt? What did she do about night fever, cold, and spit up and such? How did she connect with her friend without facebook and twitter? How did she keep in touch without email and text messages? When did she get time to go on dates? Cook elaborate dinners, connect with friend, go to work, go to church, clean the house… how did she know what to do? Who did she ask? WOW talking about SUPERMOM!
